Default Aethertech PvP status?

How do Aethertechs do in pvp? They look like a fun class but I hear rumors of their "unviability".

If true, please explain...

If false, what are some good tips / tricks / builds for PvPing with an Aethertech?

"they are only good for PvE" "they've been nerfed to ****" "an assassin could pull more ranged magic damage than an AT in a full gear" nothing too serious. Just petty rumors...

OK I made up that last one... But I have heard they were nerfed heavily in recent patches, they are only good in PvE, they are subpar to every other class, etc.

Perhaps they were confused with gunners? AT is pretty significant threat.

Solo PvP (3/5 rating), Aethertechs are okay. It is definitely not the best solo PvP class. I will spare the details, but if you desire, then I can explain.

Group PvP (5/5 rating), Aethertech shines. The drillbore skill is extremely powerful due to greatly disrupting game play due to the skill removes Templar's bodyguard, iron skin, Spiritmaster's pet bodyguard, stone skin, etc. Leeching Steel, if timed right or used in the right moment, it can ruin blender builds.

Tip 1: Aethertechs are damage godstone proc king / queen. Equip 2% or 3%.

Tip 2: Aethertech, although magic melee based, can use power shards.

Tip 3: Builds, prepare to change stigma setup quite frequently. I have 6 different builds.

Tip 4: If enchanting stigma, then enchant leeching steel, aimbot as both are -3 seconds and Kinetic Bulwalk for -5 seconds per enchantment level.

Tip 5: Kinetic battery, looks good in description, but read the "Mana" section very carefully.

Tip 6: 4K MB is your goal while maintaining high MA. You will understand eventually. Hence, Tip 1.

2.2K MA unbuffed is a good starting point going all MB as you work your way up to 2,340+ MA unbuffed (ideal).

More details.

Pure MB is ideal versus all classes except MR clerics and chanters primarily in group PvP. In a 6 versus 6 scenario, it primarily depends on two factors; group setup versus opponent's group to either focus on raw power (pure MB) or interruption specialist (focus on MA). Secondary traits are based on player skills, gear, and group's coordination that can overcome the primary factors.

Group setup versus Opponent setup is either balance, melee or magic heavy. If your group is melee heavy, then opponent's cleric will most likely be in block set; otherwise, if MR, then melee classes will make MR useless. Unless opponent has a Templar, then it's subjective on the secondary traits. The ability to have raw power and interruption without any resist is an unprecedented and ideal match up for an Aethertech. Aethertech's power really shines in this setup.

Vice versa, magic focus with opponent's MR heavy cleric(s) or Chanter (especially 2.8K+), then sacrificing MB for 2.5K+ MA (Buffed) is ideal to play Aethertech's interruption abilities and making sure those skills land; meanwhile, magic DPS burns opponent's DPS down. Unless secondary traits factors in to overwhelm your opponent on a skill to skill bases, then pure MB and out dpsing with insane godstone procs is an alternative route.

Lastly, alliance or open world PvP is pure MB all the way; unless, unusual circumstances states otherwise.

Aethertech should have both +MB and +MA plume and switch it out based on the circumstances aka. adapt to the situation. +5 plume is okay, +7 is ideal and +10 is an overkill.

Edit: Remember, Aimbot stigma is your best friend.

I hope this helps
